Microsoft and Iberdrola have strengthened their global clean energy  cooperation by  subscribing two long- term power purchase agreements( PPAs) in Spain, covering 150 megawatts of wind power capacity. The deal marks the first European PPAs between the two companies and links renewable electricity procurement with the  rapid-fire expansion of artificial intelligence,  pall computing, and digital adaptability. The agreement reinforces how renewable energy, wind power, commercial PPAs, clean electricity, and AI deployment are decreasingly  connected in the energy transition strategies of global technology leaders. 

The new contracts extend a transatlantic clean power portfolio between Microsoft and Iberdrola to around 500 MW across Europe and the United States. Together, these  systems will supply 150 MW of renewable electricity to support Microsoft’s European operations. The agreements represent a significant  corner, as they’re the first PPAs  inked by the two companies in Europe, following times of collaboration in the United States. 

For Microsoft, the Spanish wind contracts directly support its ambition to operate on 100 percent renewable energy in Europe, in line with its broader global decarbonisation commitments.
