Clean Water Reaches Villages in Phulambri

Anandana and S M Sehgal Foundation Bring Safe Drinking Water to Rural Communities in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Under the ‘stimulating Difference’ crusade, Water ATMs deliver clean, affordable water while empowering original communities in Phulambri. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, October 14, 2025 – In a major step towards ensuring sustainable access to safe drinking water in pastoral India, Anandana—The Coca-Cola India Foundation, in collaboration with the S M Sehgal Foundation, has installed community-managed Water ATMs across ten townlets in the Phulambri block of the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar quarter. The action, launched under Coca-Cola India’s ‘Stimulating Difference’ crusade, aims to attack water failure and ameliorate public health and community well-being by providing affordable, clean drinking water for pastoral families. These water ATMs, equipped with advanced reverse osmosis (RO) and ultrafiltration (UF) units, give purified water to townies at minimum cost. Managed and maintained by original communities, the design emphasizes long-term sustainability and self-reliance. It not only secures access to drinkable water but also creates employment openings for pastoral residents. The system includes e-vehicles for door-to-door water delivery, icing that indeed vulnerable sections of society, similar to seniors and the disabled, can fluently pierce safe drinking water. In addition to furnishing clean water, the action strengthens the region’s groundwater table through the construction of recharge wells and check heads. These measures are designed to enhance water vacuity throughout the time and make long-term adaptability against famines and seasonal dearths. The design has formally begun transubstantiating lives in townlets similar to Babara, Wanegaon, Dongargaon Kawad, and Semta. Women in these areas report saving several hours each day that were before spent costing water from distant sources. The reduction in time spent on water collection has given them the occasion to concentrate on ménage conditioning, childcare, and indeed small-scale income-generating work. Families also report a conspicuous decline in waterborne conditions, while children’s academy attendance has improved as a result of better health and availability of water at home. For Kalpana Suresh Goswami, an Anganwadi worker from Babara village, the change has been life-altering. “We no longer have to walk long distances or suffer back pain from carrying heavy pots of water,” she participated. “The filtered water is clean, and indeed the leftover water from the sanctification process is reused for washing and drawing purposes. The system is both effective and sustainable.” An analogous metamorphosis is apparent in Wanegaon village. Savitri, an ASHA worker, recalls how unsafe water sources formerly made residents prone to frequent ailments. “Before, dirty water from the rains used to flow into the wells, and people frequently fell sick. Medical charges were high, and we had no dependable water source. After the installation of the water ATMs, effects have improved drastically. The water is clean, affordable, and fluently available. We now spend less on healthcare, and the entire community feels healthier,” she said. In Dongargaon Kawad, the Water ATM has evolved into a tone-sustaining model. According to planter and Vill Water Commission member Kailash Bandhu Patil Takle, the installation of the Water ATM in 2020 brought about a significant reduction in medical costs and bettered savings. “Before this design, waterborne conditions were common. Now, with affordable and clean water, our families are healthier, and our charges have gone down,” he said. The S M Sehgal Foundation, which has expansive experience working in the field of water conservation and pastoral development, has played a crucial part in marshaling community participation and ensuring the effective operation of these Water ATMs. Anjali Makhija, trustee and CEO of the foundation, emphasized the significance of the original structure’s adaptability. “Through these Water ATMs, we’re ensuring that families have access to safe drinking water close to their homes. The action also includes groundwater recharge measures through check heads and recharge wells, which help maintain long-term water security for pastoral communities,” she stated. Rajiv Gupta, Director of Anandana—The Coca-Cola India Foundation, stressed that the action isn’t just about water but about community commission. “The impact of these Water ATMs goes beyond access to clean water. It’s about restoring quality, perfecting livelihoods, and creating sustainable ecosystems. We’re proud to see our ‘stimulating Difference’ crusade making a meaningful impact through community-driven hookups,” he said. This action is part of Coca-Cola India’s broader commitment to responsible water stewardship. The ‘stimulating Difference’ crusade reflects the company’s fidelity to working with grassroots associations like the S M Sehgal Foundation to enhance community water adaptability, functional effectiveness, and indifferent access to safe water. The crusade focuses on structure systems embedded in original knowledge, structure development, and watershed restoration—showcasing Coca-Cola India’s belief that sustainable change begins with empowered communities. Anandana and the S M Sehgal Foundation have banded together on several water-related systems across India, including Project Jaldhara, which operates in water-stressed regions of Haryana, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh. Their combined efforts have enforced interventions similar to checking heads, desilting of traditional tanks, and decentralized drinking water systems, directly serving over a million people civilly. Together, they’ve created a total implicit water harvestexceeding one billion liters through the construction of 30 check heads and the revivification of five traditional ponds. Through enterprises like the one in Phulambri, Anandana and the S M Sehgal Foundation are demonstrating how commercial-community hookups can deliver palpable social impact—bringing health, quality, and hope to pastoral India, one drop at a time.
